Activities planned for Saturday 1-3 PM include the following:

Kneebone Mushroom Reference Collection (KMRC) Tours
Visit and overview of KMRC by Janet A Hughes
Janet is the Biological Sciences Librarian at Penn State. Tours will be limited to 8-10 visitors at a time. Those interested in visiting the KMRC will do so in small groups. This webpage provides a description of the KMRC and links to information about Dr. Leon Kneebone, as well as the books and other materials available in the KMRC.  This is a direct link to the books and journals currently in the KMRC. 

Note: The following materials will not be available during the visit on February 15: Dr. Kneebone’s papersDr. Wuest’s papers, and Dr. Sinden’s papers housed in the University Libraries’ Special Collections Department, as well as Dr. Sinden’s papers in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology.  

Foster Auditorium – Educational Talks:
“The history of Penn State mushroom patents” presentation from Denise A. Wetzel.
Denise is a Science and Engineering Librarian at Penn State and the Patent and Trademark Resource Center Representative at Penn State.

“Mushroom Research Center overview” presentation from Nicholas H Gabel.
Nick is a Ph.D. student in the Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology Department at Penn State.

“Accessing the Penn State Libraries print and online library resources for Pennsylvania Residents” presentation from Pembroke Childs.
Pembroke is a Library Services Associate in the Common Services Department. The presentation will cover the who (PA residents), what (print and online resources), where (University Park and Commonwealth Campuses), and how (requesting and using materials) basics. Pembroke will be available to answer questions and process PA Resident library cards and accounts so you can get started right away.

Sunday at 1:00 PM we will meet at the Baileyville Community Hall (map below) for our final meeting of 2025. We will conclude any final business and elect club officers for 2026. We don’t do a mushroom walk at this meeting but please bring any interesting mushrooms that you have found for discussion and identification.
