The Central PA Mushroom Club has two events on the calendar for October, capping off a fantastic 2026 season in two great locations.
Joint Mushroom Walk with Western PA Mushroom Club
Cook Forest State Park
Friday, October 9 | 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
To kick off the weekend, CPMC is joining forces with the Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club for a joint pre-foray walk at Cook Forest State Park in Clarion County. Meet mycologists and identifiers at Shelter 2 for a full day of fall foraging in one of Pennsylvania’s most celebrated old-growth forests.
This event is free and open to all. No registration is required. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and lunch.

October Meeting and Mushroom Walk
Whipple Dam State Park
Saturday, October 17 | 12:00–3:00 PM
Our final walk of the 2026 season takes us to Whipple Dam State Park in Huntingdon County. We’ll meet at Pavilion 3 and kick things off with a beginner’s educational talk on mushrooms before heading out to forage. This event is being held in partnership with DCNR and is free and open to the public. No registration required.
Groups will forage before reconvening at the pavilion for a communal identification session, with plenty of time for questions. Please bring a basket or a cloth bag to collect mushrooms on the walk.
New members are welcome to join at the meeting. Membership applications will be on hand, and annual dues are $20, payable by cash or check.
