August Meeting and Mushroom Walk

The Central PA Mushroom Club’s August meeting and mushroom walk will be held at Black Moshannon State Park in Centre County. We’ll meet at Pavilion 4 before heading out to forage. Come early to visit with fellow members before we get started.
Black Moshannon is one of central Pennsylvania’s most distinctive natural areas, centered around a sphagnum bog lake ecosystem that supports a unique variety of plant and fungal life. It’s a fascinating environment for mushroom hunting year-round, and mid-August often offers a wide variety of summer and early fall species.
Groups will forage for one to two hours before reconvening at the pavilion to display and identify the day’s finds together. There will be plenty of time for questions during the identification session.
Please bring a basket or a cloth bag to collect mushrooms on the walk.
New members are welcome to join at the meeting. Membership applications will be on hand, and annual dues are $20, payable by cash or check.
